Day 295: October 22 - Happy 85th birthday!

Best friend Cindy and her mom, Carol, decided to combine forces. Cindy turned 30, and Carol turned 55, so we celebrated their 85th birthday with them. Good times, but somehow this is the only picture I managed to take.

Day 255: Sept. 12 - Missing in action

Yeah,  yeah, yeah, I know. I failed. Completely.

I promised a photo a day and a thought of the day, and now months and months have passed.

Cindy asked me the other day what had happened to this blog. My response: "I bought a house."

Now that I've survived renovations (see photos here) and the housewarming, maybe I can get a bit back on track.

That said, I offer you this:
Cindy and I have talked for years about making capes to wear to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, since our team name is the Boobie Savers. It looks like we're going to be taking next year off from the walk, so I figured now is the time to go all out. We'll rock all our silly garb, along with our new cape.

Today, we went shopping for the fabric. We must have looked pretty silly running around the store checking out their "capability". Ha!

Day 170: June 19 - Nothing says Father's Day like baseball

My dad may not have been there, but I'm pretty sure baseball screams as a favorite father's pastime.

Peter bought me a Buster Posey jersey to celebrate the world champions. Thanks, babe :-)
Jared did get to celebrate being a dad with his lovely family. Taylor secretly also has a Posey jersey on.
My attempt at baseball cupcakes.
Baseball is not my favorite thing in the world, but tailgating just might be.
It took a while, but the ladies finally took over the top of the truck.
Maybe the cutest photo of the day. I'm secretly holding her because I was afraid she would topple over.

Day 131: May 11 - Sushi galore

Remi and I have a tradition of meeting in the middle of Sac and Napa in Vacaville at our favorite sushi joint. She's moving soon to Texas, which makes me excited for her and heartbroken for me. We've decided we need as much sushi as possible before she leaves, and we're just now getting around to remembering which rolls we like. We had to start a list.

Cindy, Remi and I put away all this sushi in about five minutes flat. SOOOO good!

Day 105: April 15 -- Getting a little culture

What a great Friday night... fondue, friendship and theater. A great combo all around.

Cindy and I made a recipe for  a crab and cheese fondue, followed by a trip to see The People's Temple at the college. People had raved about the production and it had been too long since I've seen seen any theater productions. There's just something about a good play that elevates existence somehow.

Day 58- February 27 - Oscars night

I admit, I didn't see as many of the oscar nominees as I would have liked to. Next year, right?

I was lucky enough, however, to represent the Register at the local Oscars gala. Somehow I took no pictures of myself, so I shall share some of other folks.

Nona and Cindy

Our view of one of the screens.

Julianna and her new beau.

Intent conversation :-)

I wish I had pictures of the amazing food we ate. Or the '07, '97, '88 and '84 cabs we taste tested.

Day 56: February 26- crabby crAb

Crab is good. Enough said.

I officially feel old though. Napa High Crab Feed and I'm home by 9:30 and I was able to drive myself home (read: I was way too sober). Old, old, old.

Day 51: February 21 — Euro-obsessed

I'm completely obsessed with the trip Cindy and I are taking to Europe in October. We've officiallly booked the cruise, and today I spent way more time than I should have hunting down every book at the library that could possibly teach me about Italy, Slovania and Croatia before we board the boat.

More than anything, I think I'm excited to eat in all these places! I mean, really, Italian food for a bunch of days. Yes, please! And if Croatia has weird food, good thing I have a backup of an entire cruise ship full of tasty delights.

Day 29: January 29-eat your heart out

Auberge du soleil. One word. YUM!

Today's adventures brought us to one of the top restaurants in the Napa Valley... Both literally and figuratively. It's on the top of the hill, which means an amazing view, but the cuisine is also ridiculous.

Gnocchi mushroom goodness

Lobster risotto

Quail (and those things at the bottom of the plate? foie gras ravioli. Mary exclaimed this one of the best things she has ever put in her mouth.)

Chocolate dumplings. Now THAT is good plating.

The view.

All in all, amazing. Now if only the food coma would subside so I could do something (anything!) productive with the rest of my day!
